Laboratory for the Study of Social Interaction

Welcome to LaSSI

The Laboratory for the Study of Social Interaction is located in the Department of Sociology at the University of Georgia. LaSSI houses research on basic processes in social interaction including (a) socioemotional processes (b) status and power processes (c) justice and injustice processes (d) individual and group identity processes.

LaSSI is a shared resource that facilitates independent and collaborative research of sociology faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students interested in studying basic processes in social interaction. The facilities include state of the art equipment for gathering real time vocal, nonverbal, and physiological data from multiple interactants. LaSSI has four subject rooms, a group interaction room and a control room, configured to allow multiple unrelated studies to be conducted simultaneously.
